KATRINE SUNGA

VOICE - Teacher

Katrine Jamar V. Sunga, National Music Competitions for Young Artists 2019 3rd Prize Winner, finished her degree of Bachelor of Music Major in Voice Performance at the Conservatory of Music of the Royal and Pontifical University of Sto. Tomas under renowned soprano, Maestra Gloria Dizon Coronel.

 

Her grace and voice led to invitations to sing with some of the top orchestras in the country such as the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra, UST Symphony Orchestra, UST Wind Orchestra, Banda 31 of Bulacan, and San Juan Nepomuceno Band under the batons of Prof. Michael Jacinto and Dr. Herminigildo Ranera.

 

Some of her performances include playing the role of “Victoria” in the 2017 grand production of “Noli Me Tangere: The Opera” at the CCP Main Theater along with some of the country’s top opera singers, with the Noli Orchestra under the baton of Dr. Herminigildo Ranera, “La Contessa” (Verdi’s Rigoletto, CCP Main Theater 2014 directed by Floy Quintos, which also starred some of Korea’s most promising opera singers, and the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Jae Joon Lee), she also appeared in Puccini’s “Tosca” (CCP Main Theater, 2015), and was also part of the 2013 production of Bizet’s “Carmen” at the FEU Auditorium, directed by Laurice Guillen, with the UST Symphony Orchestra under German conductor, Maestro Barkheimer, and the latest, “Lucia di Lammermoor” conducted by Maestro Alessandro Palumbo at the CCP 2019.

 

In February 2013, she championed in the first ever UST Conservatory of Music Musical Theatre Singing Competition. She was also the Grand Champion in the BULPRISA (Bulacan Private Schools Association) Vocal Solo Category, both in the District and Provincial Meets during her senior year in St. Paul College of San Rafael in 2010.

 

She was also a soloist and former member of Coro Tomasino, the official choir of the UST Conservatory of Music, which has joined competitions and choir festivals in the country and abroad. Together, they have performed and competed in China, Korea, Japan, to name a few.
